We started in the woods. In the 1960’s my grandfather, Johnny E. Ward, found success logging in Andrews, SC. In 1970 he began a salvage parts business called W & W Parts & Repair. In 1974 the Business was incorporated and the name was changed to W & W Truck and Tractor Inc., owned by Ward and Roy White.
We started in new equipment sales with Wyndham loaders, Dunham Log Hog Hydraulic loaders, and Massey Ferguson farm tractor franchises. Later, We became the Tree Farmer logging skidder dealer for South Carolina, a relationship that continued uninterrupted until the middle of 1991. Even earning us the “Tree Farmer Dealer of the Year” Award in 1978. That year my grandfather also won the first Hatton Award, presented annually by Southern’ Logging Times to the “Logging Equipment Salesman of the Year” in the South. The next year we were named the South Carolina Small Business of the Year.
In the 1980’s my family stopped logging to focus mainly on keeping loggers’ operations going strong by offering affordable quality used parts and equipment. In 1991 after the purchase of Tree Farmer by Franklin, we decided to get out of the new equipment business and released our Tree Farmer and Barko Dealerships.
“ If you are talking about logging equipment and W&W does not come up, that is rare. ” – Steve Moran, Steve’s Logging
